Where to Eat in Paris- Guide to the Best Food in Paris

Paris is known across the world for incredible food. From Michelin-starred hautecuisine to casual food stands, the French capital is full of amazing places to eat. If you’re wondering where to eat in Paris, start here! I haven’t eaten at every restaurant in Paris, but these are places that I’ve eaten at and really enjoyed! I’ve broken the list into two categories- the best food in Paris and unique dining experiences that are fun (and have good food, too).

Check out my post all about French food culture before you visit Paris for 10 foods you absolutely must try in France!

Best Food in Paris

These are some of my favorite places for the best food in Paris, from patisseries to restaurants (and everything in between)!

Au Bon Accueil

I had one of the best meals in Paris at Au Bon Accueil in the 7th arrondissem*nt. This French restaurant offers incredible Parisian food with great service at a reasonable price. For 36 euros, you can get an amazing three-course dinner with classic French dishes. Want dinner with a view? Sit outside for a stunning view of the Eiffel Tower. I would recommend Au Bon Accueil to anyone looking for a great French meal in Paris.

Le Bistrot d’Henri

This restaurant, located in the 6th arrondissem*nt, is another great place for amazing French food at a reasonable cost. Main courses cost anywhere from 13 to 23 euros. I had a shrimp risotto special that was incredible, and my dad had a delicious beef bourguignon. I decided to try this restaurant after seeing a positive review on Travel + Leisure, and it did not disappoint.

Cosi

If you’re looking for a quick and tasty lunch in Saint Germain des Pres, try Cosi. This casual cafe has really good sandwiches and salads. They make the focaccia bread fresh every day, and they use fresh ingredients in interesting combinations. I had the Ines sandwich, which had prosciutto, ricotta, walnuts, lemon, and chives, and it was SO good.

Maison Georges Larnicol

If you love chocolates and pastries, you need to visit Maison Georges Larnicol in Paris. This patisserie is known for its flaky and buttery kouignettes, a smaller version of a northern French pastry. These are my mom’s favorite Larnicol treat, but I love the chocolates and salted caramels! This is a great place to grab some edible souvenirs for foodie friends back home!

Fauchon

Fauchon is a gourmet food shop and bakery with amazing food, located near the Madeline. I love visiting Fauchon when I’m in Paris for their amazing pastries. Their chocolate hazelnut croissant is one of the best croissants I’ve ever had, and their pastries are beautiful and delicious.

Ladurée

You can’t go to Paris without trying French macarons! Ladurée has some of the most famous macarons in Paris, and even though there are locations all over the world, the locations in Paris are really beautiful! I loved having tea in the ornately decorated Champs Elysées location.

Berthillon

Berthillon is the most famous ice cream shop in Paris! You can find this ice cream served at several restaurants throughout the city, but its main outpost is located on the Ille de Saint Louis! The ice cream at Berthillon is very high quality, and the flavors are super rich and delicious! The salted caramel is my favorite flavor-it’s thick, creamy, and perfectly salty-sweet. If you like ice cream, Berthillon is definitelyworth a visit when you’re in Paris!

La Grande Epicierie de Paris

Does anyone else love visiting supermarkets when they travel? I love visiting supermarkets in foreign countries to see what kinds of products and foods they have that I don’t have at home! They can also be a great place to grab a quick, inexpensive meal. La Grande Epicierie de Paris is the food department section of Le Bon Marche, a Parisian department store. This fancy supermarket has an amazing array of foods, including a killer cheese section! You can grab a quick meal and eat in the store, or get some food and enjoy a picnic in a nearby park! If you’re traveling from the USA, check out the American food section for a laugh (and $10 Lucky Charms!).

Unique Dining Experiences in Paris

Bustronome

Bustronome is one of the most unique food experiences you can have in Paris. Bustronome is a bus tour with gourmet dining. They have lunch and dinner tours, served in multiple courses on the second story of a double-deckerbus. This isn’t just any bus tour. Bustronome’s buses are beautiful, with panoramic windows that give great views of all the major sights in Paris, including the Eiffel Tower! I went on the dinner tour with my mom, and we had a lovely 6-course dinner with great food and wine. This experience is pricey, but it’s a really awesome way to experience the city. Le Foodist

Taking a cooking class can be a great way to enjoy the local food culture when you’re traveling. I took a macaron baking class at Le Foodist when I lived in Paris, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a fun food experience. They have lots of classes where you can bake classic French foods like macarons, croissants, baguettes, and more! They take care of all the prep and clean up, so you just get to enjoy baking and learning about the treats you’re making!

Le Refuge des Fondus

Le Refuge des Fondus is a fondue restaurant with a unique twist – drinks are served in baby bottles! This Montmartre restaurant has a set menu and only two main course options- meat or cheese. The food here isn’t the best food in Paris, but the experience is fun. When you enter, you have to crawl across the table to get to your seat because the restaurant is very small! This restaurant has been a favorite of ex-pats for years, and you’ll often find yourself surrounded by Americans studying in Paris or families visiting the city.
