Water Saving Device | SMART VALVE ™ For Landlords | The Water Scrooge (2024)

  • Is there air in my water? Am I paying for it?

In the volume of water passing through your water meter, there is also a volume of air, and your water meter can’t tell the difference!

To measure water consumption, the most common water meters use a method known as Positive Displacement.

This method is not limited to water: it measures the total volume of both water and air.

  • How does The Water Scrooge™ Valve work?

The Water Scrooge™ valve compresses air, eliminating its volume before it reaches the water meter—the meter no longer measures it! You pay less for the same water usage!

The Valve is EXTERNALLY ADJUSTABLE for maximum performance EVERY TIME! Fine-tunes the setting perfectly to your facility and can adjust to future system changes without ever having to turn off your water again.

No other product has this patent-pending feature.

  • Does air still go through the Water Meter?

The Water Scrooge™ valve does NOT remove the air. It simply compresses the air before it reaches your meter.

Once compressed, the air flows through the meter undetected. After the air passes through the water meter and the valve, it returns to its original state.

  • How reliable is The Water Scrooge™ Valve?

The Water Scrooge™ valve’s only movement function is the compression of a spring and the associated opening and closing of a gasket-less plunger and housing. The valve is made of Acetron GP and stainless steel.

Acetron GP is self-lubricating and has strength characteristics close to steel's while still being flexible and impact absorbent.

The Water Scrooge™ valve comes with a 10-Year Manufacturer’s Warranty. However, the valve should continue to work reliably for much longer.

  • How does The Water Scrooge™ Valve save me money?

    In a number of ways:

    • It stops you from being charged for any volume of air present in your water supply by compressing the air volume before it reaches your meter.
    • Prevents pressure drops from water usage from reaching the water meter.
    • It keeps your water meter operating within its designed flow range.
    • It reduces over-supply caused by higher-than-desired city pressure.
  • Is the SMART Valve™ easy to install?

    Yes!

FAQs

What is a water smart valve? ›

Smart water shut off valves are a new way to protect your home from water damage. These systems use sensors to monitor your water usage and can automatically shut off your water supply if they detect potential leaks. This can help to prevent major damage to your home, even when you're not there.

What does a smart valve do? ›

The Smart Valve™ eliminates the excess volume of air at the point of water meter measurement, ensuring a lower meter reading but not impacting the pressure of water coming into the facility.

What is a water-saving device to a water meter? ›

What is a MeterSave device and what does it do? A MeterSave device is a water-saving device that's installed in your meter chamber and controls the amount of water that comes out of your supply pipe.

Are smart water valves worth it? ›

1. Early Leak Detection and Prevention. One of the most significant benefits of smart water shut off valves is their ability to detect leaks at an early stage. These valves are equipped with sensors that continuously monitor your plumbing system for any signs of water leakage.

How does smart water shut off work? ›

There are two main types of smart shutoff systems: professionally installed units with a shutoff valve that gets spliced right into your main water supply line and DIY units that sit on the quarter-turn valve on your water line and use an electric motor to open and close the valve automatically if a leak is detected.

How does a water saving device work? ›

Indoor Water Conservation

Aerators screw on to the end of kitchen and bathroom faucets. They mix air into the stream of water, reducing the amount of water flowing from your faucet. WaterSense labeled aerators can reduce water use by 20% or more without reducing water pressure.

What device lowers water bill? ›

What device lowers water bill? Devices like low-flow showerheads, faucet aerators, and dual-flush or low-flow toilets can significantly lower your water bill by reducing water usage.

What does a smart water meter do? ›

What are smart water meters? Smart water meters are devices that measure and communicate water usage from consumer to provider to facilitate water management and proper billing. These meters are equipped with an electronic computing unit, or ECU, that facilitates communication between the meter and the supplier.

What is the use of smart valve? ›

A smart valve is a component that can automatically adjust its position or flow rate. It uses data from sensors or a programmed control system. Sensors in smart valves can detect changes in temperature, water pressure, and flow.

How does smart water technology work? ›

Water System Sensors and SCADA

Networked sensors can send data about flow rates, volume, and water pressure. Other sensors will deliver information about impurities and quality around the water treatment process. Sensors at user locations provide information about customer usage for consistent billing practices.

What does a water control valve do? ›

A water control valve is a type of valve that controls the flow and backflow of water in a pipe and transfers it from source to destination. These valves are designed to controlling water, regardless of its consistency and constituents.

How do smart water sensors work? ›

Regardless of the type of sensor used, once it detects water, it sends a signal to your home security system's smart hub or your smartphone app, alerting the homeowner. From there, you can quickly respond to any potential leaks or water accumulation, helping to prevent serious issues.
