Give God first place in whatever you want Him to bless. If you want God to bless your home, put Him first in your home. If you want God to bless your business, put Him first in your business. If you want God to bless your finances, put Him first in your finances.
The word tithe means ten percent. Tithing is giving the first ten percent of your income back to God. Here are four verses that explain the promise, the purpose, the place, and the day for tithing.
The Promise: “Honor the Lord by giving him the first part of all your income, and he will fill your barns with wheat and barley and overflow your wine vats with the finest wines” (Proverbs 3:9-10 TLB). God promises that if you honor Him with the first part of your income, He will bless you financially.
The Purpose: “The purpose of tithing is to teach you always to put God first in your lives” (Deuteronomy 14:23 TLB). God doesn't need your money, but He wants what it represents—your heart. He wants you to trust Him.
The Place: “Bring to the storehouse a full tenth of what you earn...Test me in this,” says the LORD All-Powerful. “I will open the windows of heaven for you and pour out all the blessings you need” (Malachi 3:10 NCV). The storehouse is the place where you worship God. Giving to a relief organization or to someone in need is charity, but it is not tithing. Tithing is an act of worship, given in the place of worship.
The Day: “On every Lord's Day each of you should put aside something from what you have earned during the week, and use it for this offering” (1 Corinthians 16:2 TLB). When are you supposed to tithe? You tithe on the day you worship. By giving God the first part of your income on the first day of the week, you are saying to Him, “You are number one in my life.” Then watch how God blesses and uses you, and honors His promise in your life.

“Those who give to the poor will lack nothing” (Proverbs 28:27 NIV). It sounds too good to be true, but God says it over and over in Scripture: “If you are generous with what I give you, I will meet all of your needs—financial, physical, and spiritual.”
It's about changing your spirit and being intentionally generous. As for your side hustle, the 10% you give should come from your entire income. So, if you have a part-time job on the weekends that brings in $300 extra each month, add that amount to your total monthly income and tithe $30 of it.
No mention of tithing here because it is no longer required. Jesus gave them the authority to give this kind of directive. He said to them: “Whatever you forbid on earth will be forbidden in heaven, and whatever you permit on earth will be permitted in heaven.” (Matthew 18:18).
The Bible is very clear in Leviticus 27:30 where it says “A tenth of the produce of the land, whether grain or fruit, is the Lord's, and is holy.” And Proverbs 3:9 (NIV) says, “Honor the Lord with your wealth, with the first fruits of all your crops.” It's critical to recognize that tithing was central to God's law.
We tithe to show how awesome our God is. Lord, your God, owns all—everything on Earth and beyond is holy to Him. When we tithe, we offer up to Him what is His, and show that we recognize this ownership as a constant blessing upon us all. After all, God loves a cheerful giver.
He will not punish you if you do not give a tithe. There is a big difference in paying tithes and giving tithes. God does not was us the pay Him anything because everything has been paid by His Son, Jesus Christ.
In Paul's first letter to the church in Corinth, he writes, “On the first day of every week, each one of you should set aside a sum of money in keeping with his income” (1 Cor. 16:2). The church was encouraged to set aside an amount of money to give each week.
Jesus said that much rather plainly. In Luke 11:42, Jesus rebuked the Pharisees and said, “Woe to you Pharisees, because you give God a tenth of your mint, rue and all other kinds of garden herbs, but you neglect justice and the love of God.
So one of the great blessings of tithing is confidence in what the future holds. Whatever our circ*mstances may be, things will work out for the best. As we keep our promises, He will keep His. A feeling of peace is one of the great blessings of paying a full tithe.
