Obsidian armor is an armor set that consists of the Obsidian Outlaw Hat, Obsidian Longcoat, and the Obsidian Pants.
A full set of Obsidian armor provides the following benefits:
- +15 defense
- +31% summon damage
- +1 minion slot
- +15% whip speed
- +30% whip range
Crafting a full set requires a total of 60 Obsidian, 30 Silk, and 20 Shadow Scales or Tissue Samples.

Notes
- Defeating the Eater of Worlds/Brain of Cthulhu is not strictly necessary to craft the set, as the ingredients are dropped during the fight. It can be crafted after killing an average of 9 Creepers or 27 Eater of Worlds segments.
- Despite being made from Obsidian, this armor set grants no special protection against the On Fire! or Burning debuffs, whereas other Obsidian-related items do, like the Obsidian Skin Potion and Obsidian Skull.
- The whip speed from its set bonus stacks multiplicatively with melee speed bonuses.
Trivia
- This set's unique set bonus to whip damage is possibly a reference to cowboys often being depicted with whips, as this armor is themed around a wild west outlaw.
- Despite being a pre-Hardmode armor set, it gives higher summon damage boosts than most armor sets, only beaten by Spooky armor, Stardust armor, and tier 3 armors from the Tavernkeep. This makes it a viable choice for boosting sentry damage during the Old One's Army if the respective armor sets have not been obtained.
- The internal names of the Obsidian Outlaw Hat and Longcoat are "ObsidianHelm" and "ObsidianShirt", which may signify that the original designs looked more like traditional armor pieces. These could also just be placeholder names.
