Can I leave a review on Airbnb if the host cancels? ›

Guests and Hosts can also leave a review for certain reservations that are canceled on or after the day of check-in (12:00 AM in the listing's time zone). Reviews are posted after both parties have submitted their reviews, or once the 14-day period has ended—whichever comes first.

If the Host cancels a reservation within 24 hours of the check-in date or later, you will have the option to leave a review. If you choose to leave a review, be sure to follow our Reviews Policy and only rate and comment on relevant experiences which you can personally speak to.

Your refund if your Host cancels

If your Host cancels your reservation before check-in, you'll receive a full refund, including service fees, if you choose not to rebook. Based on eligibility, you may receive Airbnb booking credit that can be used to make another reservation right away.

As a host, if you cancel, an indelible mark appears on your reviews and in your statistics. As a guest, you can block a host's dates and cancel as many times as you want, it does not appear on your profile.

Members of the Airbnb community may not coerce, intimidate, extort, threaten, incentivize or manipulate another person in an attempt to influence a review, like promising compensation in exchange for a positive review or threatening consequences in the event of a negative review.

Airbnb allows guests and hosts to leave star ratings and written reviews for each other within 14 days after check-out. Neither guests nor hosts can see the other's review until both have been submitted or until the 14-day review period has ended. This is so both parties can be as unbiased and impartial as possible.

It's important to note that you have to submit your review within 14 days from the time of checkout—after 14 days, you can't submit a review. Also, you can't edit what you already submitted after the 14 day period ends or after the other party submits their review—whichever happens first.

Hosts who cancel confirmed bookings without a valid reason may experience other consequences, as explained in our Terms of Service and ground rules for Hosts. For example, Hosts may have their Listing or account suspended or removed, and may lose their Superhost status.

Get help from Airbnb to resolve the issue

If your Host is unable to resolve the issue, doesn't respond at all, or declines your refund request, just let us know, click or tap Get Help from the reservation page. Someone from our team will step in to help resolve the issue.

Depending on the nature of the violation, Airbnb may also take other actions, such as canceling an upcoming or active reservation, refunding a guest from a Host's payout, and/or requiring Hosts to provide proof that they have addressed issues before they can resume hosting.

If you cancel the reservation before the original checkout time, but the check-in time has already passed, you will get the option to leave a review the day after the cancellation. Note: If your reservation dates are changed after the review emails are sent, the time limit to leave a review won't be adjusted.

Guests need to agree to a host's cancellation policy when they book. A host will be able to see the number of reservations a guest has cancelled over the previous 12 months when the guest submits a request to book.

If your guest cancels: If they cancel either before or after a trip, they'll be automatically refunded according to your cancellation policy. If your guest is owed a refund: Their refund amount is deducted from your future payouts until the full amount is collected.

Although cancellations by Hosts are rare, and some cancellations are beyond a Host's control, cancellations by Hosts can disrupt guest plans and undermine confidence in our community.

Airbnb's policy doesn't allow hosts to delete critical reviews submitted by guests. Hosts do have the option to request the removal of a review, but Airbnb will only take action if the review violates their policies.
