Is Duo owned by Cisco? ›

Cisco acquired Duo Security for $2.35 billion in cash and assumed equity awards for 100% of Duo's outstanding shares, warrants and equity incentives on a fully-diluted basis.

Log in to the Duo Admin Panel, click 2FA Devices in the left sidebar, then click WebAuthn & U2F. A list of registered WebAuthn security key/passkeys and U2F devices is shown, along with the associated end users.

If you have a hardware token, you can use it to generate a passcode. You can also use a security key. If your organization allows SMS passcodes as an authentication method and you received the passcodes before the authentication device went offline, you can use them to complete 2FA.

The Duo mobile app does collect information from your device when you attempt to authenticate using that device. The data that is collected is not user identifying, and is not used to track what you are doing.

Duo MFA still uses passwords

Passwords can and will be hacked and Duo does not totally eliminate passwords from the authentication process and recovery. So even with Duo MFA enabled, you're still at risk of password-based hacks, which are responsible for 85% of all cyberattacks.

Learn more about using different authentication methods with the traditional Duo Prompt. In the Universal Prompt, select Other options. Select Send text message passcode. When you receive the text message, enter the passcode into the space provided and click or tap Verify.

Your content is sent securely using end-to-end encryption

When you make a call on Duo, the audio and video is encrypted end-to-end and not stored on Google servers. Messages sent on Duo are stored encrypted on Google servers.
