How much does Airbnb host liability insurance cost? ›

There is no cost to Hosts for them to be insured under the HLI program. The HLI program does not insure Hosts for damage or loss to their own property or Accommodation. For damage to a Host's property, learn about Airbnb's Host damage protection program. Host damage protection isn't an insurance policy.

Do Airbnb hosts need extra insurance? While Airbnb does offer its own form of coverage, it recommends that hosts carry additional coverage in the form of an endorsem*nt or commercial policy. If you are using another platform, such as VRBO, this is something you'll want to research before you list your property.

Airbnb's host protection liability insurance protects you if a guest or another individual makes a claim against you. For example, say a guest breaks someone's property or accidentally injures another person in the lobby or hallway of the building your rental is in.

Host damage protection, part of AirCover for Hosts, reimburses Hosts up to $3 million in the rare event your place or belongings are damaged by a guest during an Airbnb stay. You're reimbursed for certain damage caused by guests to your home and belongings if the guest does not pay for the damage.
