There are a few ways to determine if an iPhone is a UK model: Check the model number: The model number for an iPhone can be found by going to Settings > General > About. The model number for UK iPhone models typically starts with "A" (for example, A1901 or A2051).

Look on the back of your iPad. Open Settings, tap General, then tap About. Look for the model number in the top section. If the number has a slash "/", that's the part number (for example, MY3K2LL/A).

To find the model number, look in the Lightning or USB-C connector. Make sure you're in a place with bright light overhead. You can find the model number on the top side of the connector – the side with the display. On an iPhone 7 or earlier, an iPad or an iPod touch, find the model number on the back of your device.

It's not the only difference between iPhones in the UK and the US. Handsets bought in the US don't have a SIM-card tray either. Instead, Americans have to use eSIM, which doesn't require a physical SIM card. Across the rest of the world, owners still have a SIM card tray and have the added option of eSIM too.

For iPhones, you'll need to check the serial number, which contains encoded information about how old your phone is. The serial number can be found in the “About” section in your settings app. the fourth and fifth characters of this number reveal what week of the year your iPhone was manufactured.

Identifying by Serial Number

You'll need to know your iPad serial number. Once the serial number is known, it's simply a matter of entering that number into a search which results in showing the status of your iPad's service coverage, and a by-product is that the information also tells you your model automatically.

Go to Settings > General > About. To the right of Model Number, you'll find the part number. To find the model number, tap the part number.

Use a security key to unlock your Apple ID

A source which lumps ~200 countries into one category isn't specific enough to tell which one it came from. In Settings > General > About > Model Number, tap the number listed and you'll see something like A2849.
