Cash App Gas Station Hold Support (2024)

Gas stations may charge your Cash App Card a temporary authorization hold of up to $175. The cost of your gas will be charged later as a separate transaction that releases the authorization hold. This temporary charge should correct to the actual amount or fall off within 7 days. To avoid this issue, pay for the amount of gas you’d like at the register before you pump.

If you have free overdraft coverage enabled, a gas station authorization hold may use your overdraft balance. Once your card is charged the correct amount for the gas you purchased, Cash App will reimburse the initial pre-authorization charge to your account.

Cash App will never charge you a fee for using Free Overdraft Coverage.
