What is App centric approach? ›

App-centric refers to a view that provides visibility into an application's need in terms of resource requirements. It can be for example memory, CPU or bandwidth. This view is allows to capture the metrics that help ensure applications have the optimal resource level to run seamlessly.

Focusing on the application. App centric generally refers to ensuring up-to-date deployment and security of the application whether desktop or mobile, in-house or cloud.

Centreon allows you to monitor resources. Resources can be hosts or services: A host is any device that has an IP address and that one wishes to monitor. For example, it could be a physical server, a virtual machine, a temperature probe, an IP camera, a printer or a storage space.

Data-centric information systems have as their foundation slowly changing data. App-centric systems have as their foundation data that is in a constant state of change. Centreon was originally inspired by the Nagios philosophy but it has since followed its own path. So even though they do have distant roots in common and they both believe in the open source philosophy, the two solutions are now very different in their code, their features and their business model.
